For Indigenous Youth and community
Gifting and Grants
KLF is excited to offer an opportunity for gifting to the 9 Member Nations.
Post-secondary education grants through our partnership with Indspire have 3 intakes throughout the year - August 1, November 1 and February 1.
These grants are available to the 9 Member Nations: Halalt, Lyackson, Málexeł, Penelakut, Qualicum, Snaw-naw-as, Snuneymuxw, Stz'uminus and Ts’uubaa-asatx, and in certain cases the families of the 9 Nations and Post-Secondary Students.
Our grants are guided by Kw’umut Lelum’s core values of Stitumstuxw tun shqwuluwun (self-determination), Xwunuts’amaat uw’ muqwstem (inter-connectedness) and Uy’ ya’tulct ci’cuwatulct (walking hand-in-hand in a good way). These grants are in line with our purpose: to promote the well-being of Indigenous communities by providing scholarships, bursaries, and grants to improve access to education, and to health and wellness programs and activities.

Any program or level of study is eligible.
Grants of up to $5250 per individual.

Applications are submitted through the Indspire web portal. Click on the link below to get started.
Sport, Recreation and Culture Grants
CLOSED FOR 2024
Physical activity and motivating Indigenous children and youth through sport and recreation is a significant contributor to improving health and wellness, building self-esteem, leadership skills and social connections. Likewise, the benefits are also evident in participation in the arts and culture.
This grant helps offset the costs of registration in a sport, recreation or a culture program to ensure children from our Member Nations can participate, to a maximum of $1000 per child. You may apply for multiple children in the same household.
Applications are now closed for 2024.
Community Grants - Snuw’uy’ulh for Success
Up to $75,000 per Nation can be accessed to support Community initiatives
Snuw’uy’ulh for Success (SfS) Grant
Formerly known as the Community Capacity Development Grant, this funding is focused on activating each of the Member Nations’ ideas and dreams to promote cultural, economic, social, and educational wellness. The SfS grant is intended to build on the positive work being done in communities where snuw’uy’ulh is foundational to keeping children and youth strong and connected to culture. SfS will carry us forward in a good way guided by four pathways: Celebrating Culture, Commitment and Consistency, Opportunities to Learn and Share, and Working Together. Through these pathways, we will achieve long-term sustainable outcomes through self-determining initiatives such as:
Hul’q’umi’num language camps and courses
Harvesting plant medicines – practice, knowledge and healing
Developing business plans for learning centers
Community Mentors Network to support education and career coaching
Entrepreneurial skill development and training
Grants of up to $75,000 per Nation are available.
Applications will take place throughout the month of September. Each community will meet with KLF staff to review process and their activity request. Communities can choose an oral interview or written online application. If it is the latter, the primary contact for the grant will be emailed the link to the online application portal.
