PhotoVoice Explores Indigenous Identity

The PhotoVoice project was designed to support and amplify the voices of Indigenous Youth who participated in 2023 Tribal Journeys and the Queen Liliʻuokalani Outrigger Canoe Race in Kona, Hawaii. With support from our gifting partners, Save the Children Canada’s National Reconciliation Program, Youth were able to share the positive impacts of their experiences through their photos and reflections.

On April 11, 2024, the Foundation hosted a celebration of their work in Snuneymuxw to showcase the photographs and give voice to their experiences.

A curated public exhibition of their photos runs from May 23rd to June 28th, 2024 in recognition of National Indigenous History Month at the Nanaimo Harbourfront library.

During the last week of the exhibit, we are hosting an online fundraising auction of some of the Youth’s photos with proceeds going towards the development of Snuw’uy’ulh for Success.
